Counselling and psychotherapy can help you resolve life issues and create strategies and supports for positive change. Through a therapeutic process that promotes self-awareness, healing, integration and personal growth, clients develop a greater capacity for full and healthy living.
Individual counselling & psychotherapy can be helpful if you:
- are having difficulty coping with stress, pain, illness, addiction and/or trauma
- are struggling with difficult feelings such as anxiety, anger, grief, depression or low-self-esteem
- require help in resolving a particular life issue, transition or choice
- need assistance in creating healthy patterns of coping and relating to others
- want support on your path of personal growth
Couple counselling is helpful for couples who want to:
- create healthier patterns of relating
- heal from a relationship crisis
- develop greater fulfillment in their relationship
- have support in making relationship decisions and transitions

Councelling
Counselling involves assisting clients in:
- problem solving specific life issues
- developing plans to support desired change, and
- identifying and accessing resources/supports required for change.

My approach to counselling is client-centred and supportive. Through nonjudgmental listening and reflection, issues will be identified and explored. Psycho-education, dialogue and inquiry, experiential learning, reframing, goal identification and action planning are some of the possible dynamics in this process. I encourage and support clients to develop their capacity and mobilize the resources needed to meet their goals.

Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a therapeutic process of:
- self-discovery
- personal growth
- integration
- healing

My approach in psychotherapy is grounded in the Gestalt model. This focuses on a client’s awareness and experience of self in the “here and now”. Issues related to past and/or concerns related to the future are addressed as they are experienced by the client in the present. Mindfulness, cognitive and dialectical behavioural modalities, dream work, and existential, relational, psycho-dynamic and emotional focused approaches are integrated as appropriate in the therapy. I offer a process for clients to explore, heal, gain new awareness, and create new meaning and fulfillment in their lives.
Dream Work

Dream Work is an invitation to:
- explore the personal meaning of your dreams
- develop greater self-awareness and wholeness
- connect with and integrate the energy of your unconscious self
During a session, a client can focus on his or her dream life in a number of ways: by working on a whole dream, a dream fragment, a dream theme, or a dream series. Dream work is also a profound tool for accessing dreams that are not recalled in waking life.
Clients emerge from dream work sessions feeling greater self-awareness, connection and an enhanced sense of energy and knowing.

Couples Counselling
Couple counselling is helpful for couples who want to:
- create healthier patterns of relating,
- heal from a relationship crisis,
- develop greater fulfillment in their relationship, and/or
- have support in making relationship decisions and transitions
When couples first come to see me, one or both partners have a concern about their relationship but have been unable to resolve it on their own. There may be a specific dynamic in the relationship that is problematic. Other times, there are events that have occurred that have caused hurt or crisis in the relationship.
In each scenario, I work with the couple to:
- identify and interrupt negative dynamics in the relationship,
- develop healthier patterns of communication,
- listen to and re-discover one another,
- deepen their understanding of themselves and each other in the relationship, and
- strengthen the capacity of their relationship so issues can be resolved effectively
My approach is focused on the relationship as my client; hence I am not a mediator between two individuals. I serve as a facilitator, coach and therapist to the relationship. I am committed to helping partners develop a respectful, healthy and mature base from which their hurts and problems can then be resolved.
